The Ocean Institute in the Dana Point Harbor may inspire students to further study the marine science, maritime history and enviroment.

The Institute hosts over a hundred thousand students and visitors each year for its hands-on programs on its three ships and in its learning centers.

The Ocean Institute next month will have its largest fundraiser called the Ocean Institute Jazz Festival.

The J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center in San Juan Capistrano serves about 800 riders each year utilizing 20 horses and the assistance of more than 600 community volunteers.

The center serves people with disabilities with a variety of programs that include physical, occupational and speech therapy that can benefit from theraputic horseback riding and activities around the horse.

Trauma is the number one killer of our youth.

Trauma is defined as an injury caused by an external force.

In South County, people suffering from a traumatic injury will be taken care of at Mission Hospital Trauma Center because it's the only one in South County.

Homeless families with children ages 18 and younger may receive services through the non-profit Family Promise of Orange County. It's an affiliate of the national organization Family Promise.

Family Promise assists the homeless with the help of local houses of faith.

Boys Town California provides services to troubled children and their families.

In Trabuco Canyon, on 80 acres, it has four family homes for adolescents and one family home for young children. It also has two family homes for siblings in Tustin.

It also provides In-Home Family services and Community Support Sevices.

These Programs touch the lives of 48-thousand people each year.

The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce is getting ready to put on it's 38th Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot at the Dana Point Harbor on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26th.

Around 11-thousand runners are expected to participate along with five thousand spectators. The event attracts people from around the world who look foward to exercising with others before their Thanksgiving meal.
