Collage: Dana Point Turkey Trot

"Run the race before you stuff your face" is what the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce tells participants of the upcoming 39th Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot which will occur on Thanksgiving morning Nov. 24th.

There will be a 5K, 10K, and Kids Gobble Wobble in and around Dana Point Harbor and Doheny Beach.

With Veteran's Day on Friday, Saddleback College is celebrating Veterans all week.

Festivities on the Mission Viejo campus include a field of flags to represent those veterans who paid the ultimate price, a panel with veterans of all branches and eras and an event entitled A Day In Our Boots.

Never Ever Give Up was the motto and message from 12 year old Jessica Joy Rees, better known as Jessie who Courageously fought two brain tumors between March 2011 and January 2012.

Her motto lives on in bringing joy to children fighting cancer through JoyJars that are created by the Jessie Rees Foundation.

Pancreatic Cancer is the third most deadly cancer in the United States. This year, over 53-thousand people will be diagnosed with the disease and more than 41-thousand people will die from it.

In our County, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Orange County will be holding its annual walk on November 12th to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of both women and men in the U.S. It also has one of the lowest five year survival rates of all cancer types. And every two and a half minutes, someone in the U.S. is told they have lung cancer.

The American Lung Association raises money and awareness about the deadly disease. It will have a local Lung Force Walk November 5th at Mason Regional Park in Irvine.

Collage: Mission Walk Against Drugs

Saturday, South County students, families and community groups will unite in Mission Viejo to promote healthy choices and drug-free lifestyles.

They will be participating in Mission Viejo's 28th Annual Walk Against Drugs.

The event begins with a 30 minute rally at Mission Viejo High School followed by a mile and a half walk to a celebration fair on the Village on the Green.

Breast cancer is a group of cells that are a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the breast. It's the second leading cause of death among women.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which means we'll be seeing a lot of pink, as that's the symbol of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

People with ALS slowly become incapacitated when the pathway from the brain to the muscles die. And then they eventually die.
